The Grace of Remission

13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:13, 14)

Introduction

  1. What is the foundation of the Christianity? We can say that it is Christ and the Word of God. It is right. but what is the redemption? The text answer obviously to us. It is remission that is, the forgiveness of sin. But I ask that what the best real facts in relationship between Christ and the sinner is? In a word, we can say that it is the salvation or, the redemption .

  2. In our school life any time, any place, we have to think of that issue, we have to say that theme and also we have to study the terminology and it’s contents. Because understanding this term is very important in our lives. I expect that everybody should know very well the meaning of redemption. Verse 12-13 says “13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

  3. Now we want to concentrate on the last part, “the redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” So, I think what the grace of remission is, how we can receive it and after we were saved what we should do.

First, what is the remission(redemption)?

  1. Ephesian 1:7 uses the redemption at the term of remission in verse 14. The remission means to repaid their debts. In the Old Testament the event of hanging up a bronze snake on the high pole to the image of a fire snake. or, the event of the death of Passover lamb pointed the death of Christ. as the types. Verse 12 says that the redemption is the remission. (Is. 53:6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,  each of us has turned to our own way;and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.) Why did Jesus Christ died on the cross? He was died on the cross for our salvation, our forgiveness and our redemption.

The sayings as “do not pay their own sin,” “ How can the Scripture is accomplished?” mean the death of the redemption. So the redemption is the center of the life of a Christian. Whenever we centered on the redemption at every area, those are; thought, society, culture, science, economy, politic and the relationship, we can get the insight and the wisdom to solve the problems. Paul was proud of the cross of Jesus Christ in his whole life. (I Corinthian 2:22 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.) When the king Hezekiah was attacked by Assyria, he brought the letter in the temple and opened it before God to get the salvation of God. Then he depended on only the redemption of God. He broke his cloth and put on the * cloth and approached to God because he believe in the redemption of the Lord. (Is38:1716 Lord, by such things people live;
    and my spirit finds life in them too.
You restored me to health
    and let me live.
17 Surely it was for my benefit
    that I suffered such anguish.
In your love you kept me
    from the pit of destruction;
you have put all my sins
    behind your back.)

Second, how can we receive the redemption?

  1. The redemption can be gotten only in Christ. In other words we received it because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. His complete death took away our sin, our conviction, our punishment and our death. We who are united with His death received the redemption out of miserable state. His death and blood make God’s righteousness to be the sufficient before God. And also the powerful sin that are moving in our heart, once of all, was taken away by his death on the cross. So when we abide in the Lord we can get the freedom in Christ.(Rom 6:3, 6 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death… 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin”)

  2. ) And this complete union with his resurrection makes us to have the new life in us. Because we have the eternal life in us, we can live in the eternal life. And we can know God, seek the will of God and we thank everything before God, because this is the life of the redeemed people.

  3. Simply we can learn how to keep the eternal life in our heart according to the prayer of Paul

When we pursue to live in knowing God’s will and in growing in knowing God and in giving our thankfulness to God. We can live in the abundance of redemption. Actually this salvation must be the center of every salvation, out of our spiritual depression, our physical problem, our financial issue, our relationship and our learning improvement.

My lovely saints, apply the redemption to your actual lives by thinking, by saying, by praying and by proclaiming the gospel, you shall find the renewal world, to the living stream as the Eden Garden revealed.

Third, what is the effect of the redemption?

  1. In one word, it is the transformed life. We were moved from the darkness into the world of the light. Just like a miracle that the darkness was changed into the light, We have been moved into the kingdom of the light. (Jn. 5:24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.) Therefor even though we live in the life is like as world of darkness we know it and enjoy in daily life because we was saved by believing the Lord Jesus Christ.

  2. Do you have changed life, co live another changed heart and changed attitude in your lives? The redemption of Christ made us to live another life, living sacrifice life. What is living sacrifice life? According to Roman12:1 says “ Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. “ As we know living sacrifice is the dying life. As like an animal offering. (burnt offering). If some body command that you should offer yourself to this altar( or family, society, or, computer technology , artist,), can you offer yourself to them? No, How about to the Jesus Christ, God? Yes I will do it. Then we can be changed by God as the man of God, woman of God. And also we can walk into blessing way in the darkness.

My beloved saints! You proud of your salvation, your authority of God’s children, the eternal life.

Claim your salvation in your any problems. God will reveal his wonderful grace.

Conclusion.

  1. We who know the redemption , the foundational present come out of God live to thank God and to glorify and enjoy God fully. Why? God paid everything of replace of our sinful debts.

  2. First of all we have to enjoy and proclaim the salvation to the all areas of Cambodia, south eastern Asia. Offer yourself as living sacrifice to God. In this semester make a masterpiece in your life.

Dear Lord, We thank you for your redemption, your salvation for us. Always make us to praise it and proclaim it to our neighbors. Lord, make us to live living sacrifice in school life. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. (2013 9.8)
